A simulation and experimental study of an innovative MAC/ORC/ERC system: ReverCycle with an ejector for series hybrid vehicles

This paper presents the simulations and experiments for development of a hybrid reversible mobile air conditioning, organic Rankine cycle (ORC), ejector refrigeration (ERC) system. flexible compact system may be solution to introduction waste heat recovery in passenger cars. The fuel economy is calculated series electric vehicles (SHEVs). A global vehicle model used simulate annual weather conditions different climatic regions. reference driving Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Cycle. maximized temperate cold In hypothesized engine cold-start initial condition, SHEV ReverCycle maximum 1.2% Paris. hot-start 2.2% Moscow. experimental results proof concept are then presented. measured net efficiency ORC mode 3.9%. ERC can satisfy cabin cooling requirements at an ambient temperature below 20 °C. estimated 1.4%.
